Your newsletter was timely this morning. Given our previous years’ expenses, how long can we afford to live? I’m asking it this way because a friend of mine, who Sharon will know, was going on about financial planning is little good if you don’t know when you’re going to die. I turned it around and said: “but they can tell you how long you can afford to live”. If they said I could afford to live until I was 70, or maybe 110, it would change our spending.

Sharon and her colleagues are a great team who create a friendly atmosphere and are able to advise on financial matters in an easily understandable and effective way. They are also always ready to take that extra trouble and time to really help with any difficulties.

Moved to Thorntons after a bad experience with one of the big banks. What a breath of fresh air. They took time to understand what we wanted from life and tailored investments to match. I am very impressed with the lifestyle first approach. It was something I wasn’t expecting. It’s clear that it’s not selling financial products for the sake of it but it’s a focus on needs first. Both my wife and I were intrigued by the cash flow modelling and found looking at the effect of cash expenditure over time really informative.

We found the lifetime projections very useful in terms of knowing what we have and haven’t got and how to organise ourselves well into the future.
