It’s been a whirlwind of excitement and hard work as I dive headfirst into my race schedule while juggling the demands of my BTEC studies. Here’s a glimpse into my recent adventures on and off the road:
March Madness: In March, I kicked off the racing season with a bang at the women’s elite CICLE Rutland race. Despite encountering a minor setback that necessitated a bike change after just 18 kilometres, I persevered and secured a commendable 28th-place finish out of a competitive field of 120 riders.
April Triumphs: April brought its own share of triumphs, including an impressive 8th-place finish out of 60 in the women’s elite race at Capernwray. But the highlight of the month was undoubtedly my journey to Junior Ghent, Belgium, where I proudly claimed 6th place among 120 talented competitors. Back on home soil, I showcased my skills at the Women Elite Race NAT B in Harrogate, clinching a podium-worthy 3rd-place finish. And though the Tiverton, Devon Junior race may have been a bit lacklustre in pace, I still managed to secure a respectable 4th place.
Looking Ahead: As May unfolds, I’m gearing up for even more thrilling adventures. First up, I’ll be jetting off to Geneva for an exhilarating 2-day race in southern France—a journey I’m eagerly anticipating. Later in the month, I’ll be back on British turf for the Lincoln GP women’s elite race and the prestigious Flanders races in Belgium.
But perhaps the most enticing prospect of all is a well-deserved four-week break, offering a chance to recharge before diving back into the excitement of racing and travel come mid-June.
I have been receiving training and tactical racing advice from current and ex-professionals locally, scheduling races and National time trials in the UK this summer.
I am hoping for decent results which could lead to a ride with a British UCI Continental team next year, having sent in my rider CV recently.
