Despite the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting her progress, Ruby completed her first entire national race season in 2021 as a first-year Youth A, earning a podium finish and top 10 finishes in every race. She excelled in the sport, picking up various top 10s and podiums in her final year of the youth category in 2022, even while being injured or sick for most of the year.
Currently, Ruby is pursuing her studies with South Gloucestershire College, taking a two-year online course in BTEC National Extended Certificate in Sports Coaching and Development L3. This online format has allowed her to balance her studies and training while providing her with the flexibility she needs to compete in the junior category. With races lasting between 2-2.5 hours, Ruby is grateful for the additional time the course provides to prepare.
Recently, Ruby participated in Junior Gent-Wevelgem on March 26th, her first experience of junior and European racing. Although the race was challenging, with several crashes, including one that took her down just 200m from the finish, Ruby views it as a valuable learning experience.
Ruby’s goals for this season include representing the Isle of Man in the Island Games, achieving consistent top 10 finishes in National races, and gaining more race experience in European races. Her long-term goal is to ride for a pro team; we believe she has the talent and determination to make it happen.
As a sponsor, we are proud to support Ruby in her cycling journey and are excited to see what the future holds for this remarkable young athlete. We believe that Ruby has the potential to become a world-class cyclist, and we are honoured to be a part of her journey to success.
