Bringing the six Celtic nations together on the Isle of Man, Yn Chruinnaght (“The Gathering”) is a spectacular annual festival celebrating the rich tapestry of our shared cultural heritage, running 15th – 21st July 2019. Featuring a diverse programme of music, dance, art and crafts, the seven day event is a brilliant opportunity to delve deeper into the unique Manx culture, and to explore its intrinsic creative and ancestral links with Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Cornwall and Brittany.
This year, the team at Thornton are delighted to support the premiere Breton-Manx Collaboration concert, starting 7.30pm on Friday 19th July at The Centenary Centre, Peel.
This unmissable musical fusion pairs up Brittany-based vocalist Lors Landat and accordionist Thomas Moisson (Duo Landat-Moisson) with two of the Isle of Man’s finest: David Kilgallon, renowned local composer and multi-instrumentalist, and Mera Royle, extraordinary harpist and winner of the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2018.
Both of these shining talents are well-versed in the traditional Manx folk music scene, and we can’t wait to hear what they’ve crafted alongside the excellent duo from Brittany.
